Rob's Story

Life From 1981 through 1992, I worked as a pastor. From 1993 through 1999, I worked as a vocational counselor. Since 1999 I have been working as a computer technician. School Dinuba High was a long time ago, and yet it seems like yesterday. I was so shy back then. Painfully shy. I'm sure many of my friends wondered what was wrong. So did I. My favorite memories of the time was (of course) band, where I loved everything I did in marching band, concert band, and jazz band. I still can't believe I tried to do solos in jazz band -- that was one of the hardest things for me to do. And then there was singing in Harmoneers. That was supposed to be the "elite" voices of Dinuba High, and I always wondered why they allowed me to tag along. My favorite memory of Dinuba High? Probably being editor of the Emerald and White; while it was a tough job, it was also wonderful to experience. And probably the greatest memory of my time in high school was when I accepted Christ into my life. That changed my relationship with so many people; our high school group at my church dynamically changed. It was because of that change that I look back and I wonder how many people thought I was so stuckup snob ... and I want to apologize to them for any misleading problems which might have occured. I love and respect each member of our class, and pray that their lives have been enriched by what they experienced in high school, and how they have grown since that time. I pray that they can see the life of Christ in me, and how He has changed my life -- radica...Expand for more
lly! We are heading for our 40 year celebration (in a few years) --- I look forward to seeing them all at that time. College San Diego State University was all about living my life for Christ. Time was spent in music (the marching band) which was all about being a living witness. Time was spent with special friends (The Bible Study Group) which was all about growing in Christ ... and I don't know where some of that group has gone, but I sure remember them: Tom Cook, Barry Eichelberger, Viane Sanderson, Tom Alesi, Nancy Redman (just to name a few). And then there was the woman I thought I would marry in college: Susie Edwards. The Lord had his own plans, but I'm sure I drove people crazy talking about her. Favorite times for me at SDSU (besides football and marching band): taking classes in drama which allowed me to see various productions at SDSU. My favorites? Fiddler on the Roof and 1776. What marvelous musicals, and I still watch the film versions today! My goal: to write a musical which touches the heart and tells people of the living Christ in action today. Other favorite times: learning about the networked computers and what could be done on them. I recall talking to people all over the State over the network. And one of my all-time favorite pranks was pulled when I did this (ask Barry Eichelberger about it some time, if you can catch him). The Lord worked in a mighty way all during this time, and I am thankful that I shared in so many lives. It is hard to believe that (as of December) it will be 30 years since I graduated.
