Rob's Story
Rob lettered in football, at John F. Kennedy High School where he met his wife Jeanne. Rob graduated HS in 1972 and married Jeanne the following October. The next year they were blessed with their first son, Dustin Robert.
In February 1977 Rob enlisted in the USCG in Philadelphia PA. He attended boot camp where he was ARC. He then attended Boatswain Mate/ Port Security School. After the class A school he was stationed at Base Gloucester City NJ where he was assigned to the small boat station. Within six months he made 3rd class and began his work in Port Security. During his time in Port Safety, he acquired his passion for the environmental field. While attached to PS, he qualified as Facilities Inspector, Boarding Officer and Pollution Investigator and was awarded the CG Outstanding Achievement Award for his work on the T/B ¿Michelle F¿ grounding/spill and others.

e Big Stone anchorage. He qualified as Watch Deck Officer and received numerous Unit Accommodations with the Tug and crew. Ian, Rob¿s second son was born in 1981.
In 1982 Rob and his family of four was transferred to Station Barnegat Light. While attached to the station Rob volunteered to serve on Law Enforcement Detachment Team Key West for one year. The LEDT was instrumental in the seizure tons of marijuana from suspect vessels. When he returned to the station he qualified as Coxswain for all non-standard rescue boats and the 41¿ Utility boat. After attending Motor Life Boat School he achieved heavy weather coxswain status on the CG 44322.
In 1888 he left the Coast Guard to start another career with the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Emergency Response. There he works as a member of the NJ DEP Emergency Response Team. The team responds to environmental, atmospheric and WMD emergencies for the purpose of assessing environmental impacts as well as functioning as a departmental On-Scene Coordinator (SOSC).
