Rob's Story
Life
As you may know I always thought I needed to be close to agriculture. Just before graduation in 1982 my parents sold our home farm. I ended up in Arizona for about 6 months. I decided that is no place for this small town Iowa kid, so I moved back to Pella in January of 1983, to be near my family. I was able to work for some Bussey farmers until I landed a job at Int'velds Meat Market on the Pella square. I became aquainted with many of the Pella business people and in may of 1990 I was able to get a job a Heritage Lace as the production manager. In 1991 I married a Sully girl, Terisa (teri) Nikkel. ve lived north of pella in the country since our wedding. We have three children, Jessi 10, Ben 7, Jack 3. Our family enjoys camping, showing horses, and playing farmer on our acreage. My hobbies include restoration and renovation. We purchased our 1922 farm house that needed a lot of tlc. I have renovated a 1953 GMC two ton truck with the help of the kids. We renovated our barn and became the Marion county representatives to the Iowa Barn Foundation. My current job is back in agriculture. I served as a sales rep for Rainbow Seeds in Oskaloosa from 1997 till 2006 and in 2006 accepted a position with Champion Seed of Ellsworth Ia as the South east Iowa sales manager. More later.
