Robert's Story
My story begins sometime in the sixteenth century, say 1519, give or take. It was in a village beside a mountain range where I learned the shape of the letter "a", which rolled off my tongue like a shiny rain drop. Things unfolded predictably from there.
I went to a tax payer funded college, took a couple of graduate degrees, and now I teach history to undergraduates who would rather pursue issues of exchange, the economy of sex and light hallucinogenics, for instance.
But this is incidental.
I am a socialist by disposition and practice. But mostly I am a socialist by upbringing, since I took those bible-school lessons seriously and promised to do unto others as I would have them do unto me.

eve, along with Thomas Jefferson, that the earth belongs to the living, and so I discarded my faith in the supernnatural, i.e. god, long ago.
Finally, I am against this filthy president and the criminal cronies who speak in his name. And trust you are, too.
I am writing here to wish you a warm hello. I hope you are well, that you survived adolescence and the tempations available in your twenties, and that you find yourself in a position to assemble a future worth living.
Some of our past friends have not been so fortunate.
I'd like to end by asking you to work against the perpetuation of this bloody war, the issue of our time, which will determine our immediate and long-term future.
