Robert's Story

Hello to All, 1. Don't care. The puffed up ones either got deflated, stayed the same, or got worse. The down to earth people had friends who knew better. 2. I always thought that I wanted to be a man of the world when I grew up. We know what John says about that. 3. By losing myself in a project. 4. Skipped out of 4th period and went to lunch the last semester of 1965. 5. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have tools, materials, and an extra pair of hands to be able to deal with the day-to-day. 6. My father 7. Tucson, Key West, Cape Cod,Bah Hahbah Maine, New Orleans, Durango, Austin. 8. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Steve Lowney, because we were good friends. 9. Collecting junk, woodworking, fishing, soaking up sunshine. 10. That there is nothing really new under the sun. Only what we do not yet know remains. 11. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the whole thing then build a barn. My dream home would be a houseboat in a nicer climate. 12. How lucky we were to have grown up with much less. 13. Flash Calder. To see his tie collection, since he seldom wore the same one twice. 14. If I won $100 million, I'd give 10% of it to a worthy cause or two, then spend the rest on life , liberty and the pursuit of a sane woman. 15. sororities and fraternities are the greatest contributors to drug and alcohol addiction. 16. adrift on a lake,in the SUN!, fishing, with my soulmate, 17. My current age is 61. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be "grown up." I was so completely wrong. 18. to work for myself 19. My first crush was Sister Duane, third grade...Expand for more
1954, who went on to be principal of St Mike's. 20. My best friend would tell you I'm pragmatic, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as negative. 21. I dress down, not up. 22. Dealing with rich people. 23. I share my home with dogs, which I find odiferous. This makes me God, provider of food and water. 24. That would be giving up beer and cigarettes in 1983. 25. Listen to my father's advice and buy stock in a new company, which was Xerox. 26. In 10 years, I hope to be 71. I'm going to get there by enduring, as ever. 27. They're all dead or "missing in action." 28. Not a dang thing. I wasn't in the in crowd then, nor am I now. 29. I delivered The Livonian newspaper for pennies in 1959. My first job was at the Livonia rec, where I got paid $3 per game to umpire. What I remember most about it is that the parents were and are the biggest problem at a sporting event. 30. Too many to mention. Having a baseball mitt and a bike was all I really cared about. I do remember, though, that between Sunset & Henry Ruff, Robert Drive and Hathaway was thick with trees. This is where my Dad and I dug up trees for our house. All of Livonia was dirt roads. The hill we slid down was built from the excess soil created when they paved Middlebelt. West Chicago did not cross Merriman, so we had a good place to have dirt ball fights with the kids south of there. No money, no problem. A walk to Elias bros or Gowman's drugstore was sure to provide a pop bottle, milk bottle or two along the way. Pennies bought candy, a nickel>baseball cards, a dime>pop. A dollar might of got one something from the Rosedale Bike Shop.
