Robert's Story
Life
I was born on 16 April 1967 in exotic Saigon, south VietNam. I now live and work in lovely Raleigh, North Carolina. I did my 11th and 12th grade at Parkland High School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Go Mustangs! I grew up in Winston-Salem. I went to North Carolina State University in 1985. Go Wolfpack! I earned my BS in Electrical Engineering there on May 1989, and my MS in Electrical Engineering there on December 1990. I joined Alcatel as a Hardware Design & Development Engineer in January 1991. ucent. My current title is Senior Component/Materials Engineer. I married the sweet and beautiful Chris-Anne Elizabeth Emmons on February 15, 2003. Chris-Anne was an elementary school counselor and a Wake County social worker. Alas, Chris-Anne passed away on February 22, 2004, after a two-year battle with metastatic ovarian (primary peritoneal) cancer. I grieved and regrouped. I married the patient and beautiful Katherine Elizabeth Weatherly on April 2, 2005. Katherine grew up in New Bern, North Carolina, and was a technical writer. Katy graduated from Meredith College, in Raleigh. Katy & I had a sweet baby son, Robert Floyd Benningfield III, born on 7 July 2005.
