Robert's Story
Life
After graduating High School, I became a monk in New York city with the Hare Krishnas. In 1970 I left the States for Europe. I spent the next two years travelling around Europe: England, Ireland, Scotland, Holland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Yugoslavia, Greece. In 1972 I left Greece for Turkey, after which I went on to Iran, Afghanistan, through the Hindu Kush to Pakistan. By 1974 I was in India. I travelled from the Himalayas to the tip of the sub-continent, then I crossed to Ceylon (Sri Lanka). I stayed in the capital (Colombo) for three years, during which I setup and managed a charity that gave food, clothing, medical care and education to approximately 5,000 slum children. Then I went to Nepal, where I spent a year managing a school for underpriviledged children. In 1979 I when...Expand for more
to Singapore, where I worked with Singapore National Printers for a year.
I came back to America, landing in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1980. I've been here most of the time since. I lived in Santa Monica, Southern California, from 1985 to 1987, during which I was working for a publishing company. In 1988 I moved back to San Jose. Since then I've been working in the Tech sector. I do software development. My specialty is creating interfaces for software. I've done work for most of the big companies in Silicon Valley, although my main two clients are Apple and Microsoft.
I speak the following languages fluently: English (duh!), Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Czech, Slovenian, Serbo-Croatian, Macedonian, Sanskrit, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Singala, Nepali, Malay-Indonesian. As such, learning computer languages was easy.
