Robert's Story
Hi,
I am Rob Billington, SHS Class of 1965, I transferred from Junipero Memorial High School in 1964; following graduation I attended MPC for two semesters, then spent two tours in the Navy as an Aviation Ordnanceman at NAS Alameda CA (twice), NAF Detroit, MI, and three Attack Squadrons. Following that I was a Field Service Engineer for the Eastman Kodak Company working out of the SF Bay Area and later in Seattle, Washington.
During that time I maintained an active participation in the Naval Air Reserve, and later in the Army National Guard, running an ocean going tugboat out of Tacoma, Washington.
In the mid 1990s I returned to active duty with the Army National Guard as a Property Book Officer for the 81st Armored Brigade, later spending a tour as the senior missile and ammunition technician for Coalition Forces Land Component Command in 2004/2005 in Iraq and Kuwait.
My wife of 44 years, Nancy, and I currently reside near Fort Lewis, Washington, where I retired from the Army in January of 2008.
I returned to school after the Army, completing the Digital Media program at Bates Technical College in Tacoma, and then the Powersports and Equipment program so as to be able to minimize my own costs in motorcycle restorations.

are time I have is spent with my family, restoring a vintage mortocycles (BMW & Harley Aeromachhi), racing at Bonneville Speedweek( where my bike, The Freedle Flyer, name after classmate Frank Freedle, who was KIA in Vietnam in 1968, holds the current world land speed record for vintage production 250CC) and heavy involvement in video production.
My journey through life since leaving Seaside in 1965 has been blessed more times than I can ever count. I often think of those unique teachers who helped shape the work ethos of many of us who were in that class, Don Lurvey being but one who comes to mind.
More surprising in the journey through life is later becoming aware of what fantastic feats he himself accomplished in his life's journey before taking up a second career as a teacher, and then imparting the benefit of life's lessons learned upon his students.
If you are reading this, I genuinely hope your journey through life has been as blessed as mine, and continues to be so!
If you know where I can locate a 1965 Seaside High School year book, e-mail me here at Classmates, my own was lent to Burel Anderson in 1966 and I never was able to get back in touch with her to retrieve it as my travels in the Navy took me out of California.
Enjoy!
