Robert's Story
My story? Well lets sum it up real quick.....I was a police officer for about 30 years and now I am retired. I was married twice...the first time for 20 years and had four children, She ran off so i got divorced. Five years later i remarried to my current wife, now for 10 years and we have one daughter. Additional schooling? I attended Lamar University for several years after Robert E. Lee majoring in Chemical Engineering. I dropped out after 2 and a half years and went into the service. The army made me a military policeman and i did my time in Okinawa from 1969 until 1971. When I got back, I joiined the Port Arthur Police Department and worked there for 25 years. During that time I went back to Lamar University and successfullly completed all of the accounting courses, but ...Expand for more
did not apply for my degree. The day after I retired from Port Arthur I went to work as an Administrative Captain for the Hardin County Sheriff's Department under Sheriff Ed Cain. I worked for almost 4 more years there and then quit mainly because of heart problems.
Excitiing stuff? A few, yes......I participated in riot control during a major riot in Okinawa in the summer of 1971. I personally solved several major felony cases while working investigations at Port Arthur including several murders and kiidnappings. I have come close to death on several occasions. the latest was in 1999 when i received a knife attack that resulted in over 100 stitches to my face. I recovered quite well from that. Thirty years of police work will give you very many stories, but lets quit right here.
