Robert's Story

Life Looking ahead to the new year. March 10, 2008 I lost my mom Ada Collver to Renal Failure as the result of Lymphoma Cancer. She will be missed by many. Mom was the Laundry Manager at Laurelwood from about 1968 to 1975. She also graduated from Laurelwood the class of 1944. Verla and I are currently involved in Marriage Ministry we are teaching Love and Respect, Reconciling Marriages, and other related Marriage Relationship topics. Occasionally I preform weddings and preach where ever God calls me to preach and teach. We are in the process of setting up our ministry by obtaining our 501c3 for Renewed Life Ministries. I have been licensed through Oregon Gospel Ministries Since 1997 as a licensed pastor. We have a message to the Church that it is time to save marriages. Divorce should not be an option. The divorce rate in the Church is the same as it is out side of the Church. We want to change that. We will travel to wherever God sends us and put on 9 to 14 week seminars. As most of you know Verla and I were married on August 9, 1970 and then divorced early in 1994. We got remarried in April 8, 2000 as a testimony as to the grace of God and what he has done in our lives, we want to teach others that divorce does not always solve the problem in our lives. We are proud parents of 2 sons Robert Jr. and his Wife Amanda with 2 girls and one son. Dale Gene and his wife Heather and 3 girls. Verla is the Residence Services Coordinator at The Village Retirement Center in Gresham, OR, and operates a online internet health and beauty business. I am retired due to chronic back pain/osteopina from an accident in 1975. I retired Jan 5, 2005. I have been doing some studying, were we duped or not. I am glad for the bible teaching that I received in the SDA Church school system but I am also saddened by the fact that we were taught things that were written by someone that did not follow the scriptures in context. And that most of the writings were pledgerized. I started my search for truth since Theology Professor Paul Grove at WWC told me that he would see to it that I would never be able to preach in the SDA Church. The sad part of all of this is he never gave me any reason for this statement. So I left college after my first year and never returned. I knew at the age of 5 that God had called me to be a pastor. I was not called by a church or by men as some are, it was and is a calling on my life. I have always wanted to know truth, to have more of God the Father, Holy Spirit, and Jesus in my life. My Junior and Senior years at Laurelwood Academy, Gaston, OR., I participated in the Theology Club, as a group leader, preaching and singing at various churches and my dad drove us to those locations. It was my Senior Year at Laurelwood that some of us guy's went up behind the boy's dorm and had a bond fire and we sang songs and prayed. I do not remember who all were there as it has been too many years and I lived in the village...Expand for more
the guy's had to go back to the dorm. But what happened next was the beginning of God's real working in my life. Instead of going straight home I went for a walk and then I found myself at the airstrip where I started running and crying out to God telling Him that I wanted more of him. After a few yards of running I found my self lying on the ground praising God in a language that I did not know or understand. After a few minutes I had a peace come over me that I had never experienced before. It was not until I went to an Assembly Of God Church in Portland, OR, 1975 that I had the experience again and realized that I had been given the gift of speaking in tongues as written about in the New Testament. I officially left the SDA Church around 1986 in Milpitas, CA. I was on the School and Church Boards and there were things going on in both arenas that were not right and I took a stand and was told to keep quiet so I with drew my membership and have never looked back since. I actually quit going to church for quite a few years and was miserable until Verla wanted to go to church and I said the only churches I would attend were the Lutheran or the Assemblies of God. We started attending the Peoples Church, Assemblies of God in Salem, OR. There God start to burn the desire again for the ministry and to become a pastor. After my mother died I found a Magazine in my dad's mail called Proclamation and it answered a lot of my questions. And my search took me to these following websites where I found out we were duped which I had already believed for a long time. Check out these sites: LifeAssuranceMinistries.com EllenWhiteExposed.com Extensive research concerning Ellen White ExAdventist.com Mark Martin's articles, online audio studies and sermons FormerAdventist.com Testimonies, Bible studies, online forum, "leaving" stories TruthOrFables.com Material concerning Ellen White and Adventist doctrines SendingTheLight.com Books and materials on the New Covenant by Sam Pestes OneFlockMinistries.org Greg Taylor's story, mission projects, and ministry news If nothing else I hope that this encourages those of you that have an open mind to read and search out what is really true. Read the scriptures in context and stop jumping all over the bible one part of a text here and another there to come up with your belief system. Also refer to the original Hebrew and Greek in your study. I have put out a challenge to several SDA pastors to prove to me that what is written in these websites are not true. Please give it to me in writing showing me the texts that prove the SDA Church doctrines are correct with out the aid of EGW. At this time no one has ever been able to take on the challenge with proof in writing, they all want to have a sit down 2 or more against one (me) and use their intimidation methods. May be some of you good SDA's can come up to the challenge. I would welcome it. Please email me if you like: rdcollver at yahoo dot com.
