Robert's Story
Started out a pig farmer and as most know football wasn't my cup of tea and never will be. So from that went on and graduated high school and went out to make a living and along the way fell madly in love with Pat Martin and got Married had two wonderful children Sarah and Robert. We should have live happily ever after in the Imperial Valley BUT?? Pat became a RN and I went feet first into the great world of heavy civil construction. Lived in the old Imperial Valley for my first forty years, then Pat took a job as a critical care flight nurse managing an operation in Juno Alaska and soon after that we were all living in Fairbanks Alaska for almost four years I work for Kiewit Pacific Company out of our district office in Vancouver Washington our home office is in Omaha Nebraska and I still work for them at present. I learned to operate almost every machine there used in heavy highway work but mostly operated what they call a finish grader redoing airport runways all over the state of Alaska and have lived and worked in many places that most will never see it was great. I was then offered a job as a construction foreman building a large manmade lake near ...Expand for more
Hemet California, which I think, is called Diamond Lake. This project used very large mining type equipment and was a blast, Pat even had a job working there as a heavy equipment operator. I was then offered a job as a construction superintendent and have worked on some of the biggest infrastructure projects in the northern hemisphere. So far I have lived in Alaska, California, Colorado, Utah and now I am in British Columbia Canada and finished up last year a project called the Sea to Sky Highway which is the road to Whistler Canada where the 2010 winter Olympics will be held. This is kind of neat since I also helped rebuilt Salt lake City¿s interstate 15 prior to the winter Olympics there and Pat still lives there with our son Rob. Currently I am living in Coquitlam British Columbia Canada working on another highway rebuild job called the Port Mann project which is part of a larger project here called the Gateway program which is in place to bring the road system here into the twenty first century Here a link if you want to cut & paste and check my little employer out. There is a cool web cam set up on the project to just need to google it
