Robert's Story
Robert Coon recently retired as Vice President of Human Resources for Menlo Worldwide LLC, an internationally recognized leader in supply chain consulting and full-service logistics solutions. Menlo Worldwide designs and manages efficient, responsive and technologically advanced logistics networks for large corporate clients. Menlo Worldwide is the logistics operating component of Con-Way Inc, the $5.4 Billion global supply chain services company.
After receiving his Bachelor of Philosophy degree from the honors program at Wayne State University, Bob served as a Captain in the US Army. Her then trained in both salaried personnel and labor relations at Ford Motor Company. He was then employed in senior HR management positions by Ford Aerospace and Motorola Computer Systems, then as Vice President of HR for Daisy Systems. Bob spent over eight years as Corporate Director of Human Resources for Con-Way Transportation, the non-union nationwide freight trucking company, and then seven years as Vice Prtesident at Menlo Worldwide.

Mr. Coon has served as president of the Bay Area Human Resource Executives Council and a member of their Board of Directors for 14 years. He was elected to âÂÂHonored Memberâ status in 2008.
An accomplished speaker and writer, he has been a keynote speaker for the Conference Board, Society for Human Resources Management, Northern California Human Resources Association, The HR Summit, American Society for Industrial Security, American Electronics Association, Council of Logistics Management, Intermodal Association of North America, National Research Board, International Quality & Productivity Council, and Australian Personnel Management Institute among others.
Mr. CoonâÂÂs establishment of Menlo University won the national CUBIC Award for the âÂÂBest New Corporate University in Americaâ for 2003. His business philosophy was featured in Workforce Magazine and highlighted in "Human Value Management" by Dr. Jac Fitz-enz, which won the national SHRM book award.
Bob was singularly honored as âÂÂHuman Resources Leader of the Yearâ by the HR Symposium in Silicon Valley in 2008.
Bob lives in Los Altos, California with his wife, Lynn, and several cats. He claims to be a competent computer jockey, an average weekend golfer, and a pretty good cook. The cats may claim otherwise.
