Robert's Story

HI guys. Sorry, I disappeared for a few years. dorangolv AT yahoo . com No spaces. I now live in Las Vegas Nevada. Find me on fb. I'm not interested in paying for Classmates when fb is free. Backing up a bit... After high school I went to trade school in Phoenix, Az to learn automotive and diesel mechanics. When I returned to RPV I was diagnosed with Kidney failure. BUMMER. I was on dialysis for 14 months till I received a Kidney Transplant from my sister in 1987. Cool huh? Darren Del Conte (Class of '84) knows this story because he took 1/2 a day to drive to UCLA Hospital and donate a pint of blood on my behalf. That guy rocks. 6/10/2008 marked the 21st year of the transplant. God is good. 6/10/2023 was 36 years with a kidney transplant. Married in 1989. Divorced in 2015. I attended a few Promise Keeper Christian Mens Confrences and became active in the Drama Ministry at two So. Cal. churches from '93 to '03. Life was good in the 90's but real estate was not. Turns out, we bought a condo at the worst possible time. Our first child Benjamin was born in 1994 when we lived there....Expand for more
The value of our little home plummeted and we lost it after 4 years. From the condo in 1996 we moved into an apartment in Rancho Palos Verdes where the other two were born. My 2nd son Gabriel in 1998 and our only daughter Abigail in 2000. In 2003 we moved to Las Vegas and promptly bought a home while they were still affordable. Then in 2004 after 14 years, our marriage hit the skids... badly. Divorce and suicide seemed like viable options for both of us. We really had a tough season in life there for many years. Our children are: Benjamin, Gabriel, and Abigail. I'm a happy man. Oh yes, Abby is a princes. The name Abigail means joy of her father. And that she is. Been dating an amazing, wonderful, thoughtful and funny woman who is my best friend. We laugh a lot and watch the Vegas Golden Knights play hockey every time they are on TV. We went to T-Mobile Arena 4 times during the playoffs to watch them live. Saw Game 5 when they beat the Florida Panthers 9-3 and won the Stanley Cup Champions. Pretty happy about that.
