Robert's Story
After high school like most young men in my age group I went to college to avoid being drafted. After two years of less then sterling grades I joined the Army to avoid the draft and chose my military job. I attended flight school and received my wings and commission in 1967 and of course went to Vietnam. I flew armed helicopters in the Mekong delta. After my tour I went to Savannah Georgia as an instructor pilot. Found a great lady there and married her in 1969.
I got out of the Army in 1970 and returned to college and earned a Master's in Public Policy. I started working for Sacramento County as an Urban Planner and...Expand for more
spent the next 30 years in several local government positions in California. I retired in 2002 as a Director at the Port of Long Beach in Southern California.
After retiring, my wife and I returned to Savannah Georgia (her home town) and live at The Landings on Skidaway Island south of the city. Our community has six golf courses and two marinas so I spend my time golfing and fishing. I am also involved in the Savannah Downtown Renewal Authority and my home-owners association. Other interests include belonging to the local Corvette owners club and traveling.
Pretty normal life...school, Army, job, retire....That's it.
