Robert's Story
Life During my high school years, I was privileged to study Electrical Engineering at US Naval Avionics. The objective was to study concepts of Superhetrodine receivers and to construct a receiver. After graduation from Attucks High School, became a soldier and served in Viet Nam with the 25th Infantry Division. As a civilian, moved to Houston Texas and started a new life. Employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone as an underground construction supervisor. During Mayor Cathy Whitmires administration and police chief Lee Brown appointment in Houston, joined the Guardian Angles. The pursuits for higher education began with the University of Houston, Houston Community College, Texas Southern University and Prairie View A & M University. The degreeded areas of studies are Electronic Engineering Technology/Electrical Engineering.
As a teacher in secondary education, courses of instruction/responsibilities were Electrical/Electronics Engineering at an Engineering Academy and writing Engineering curriculum, served as Board Member at Large for Fort Bend Employee Federation of Teachers. endent in FBISD and, the Central Labor Counsel, an affiliated of the AFL-CIO, which addresses the return of jobs and major industries to the United States. For personal growth, pursued studies in the arts of Aikido, Taekwondo, Kung Fu and Judo under Master Hanh Duy Nguyen, Asian Champion in 1971, 7th Dan.
After 12 years of teaching secondary education and college level courses, I will not continue my career as a secondary educator. It is my opinion that public education for minorities in America, is not providing our students with the necessary tools to be academically competitive with private schools and the worldÂs educational standards. At this point and time in my life the thought of exploring engineering opportunities in the private sector, world travel and teaching at the university level is being considered. My views of education and life is clearly stated by Kahlil Gibran, The Voice of the Master, Of Wisdom, ÂLearning is the only wealth tyrants cannot despoil. Only death can dim the lamp of knowledge that is within you. The true wealth of a nation lies not in its gold or silver but in its learning, wisdom, and in the uprightness of its sons. Thanks for reading my BIO.
