Workplace I enjoyed 37 years of teaching Spanish at Columbus Tustin Middle School and previously C.E.Utt Intermediate (Middle school now). During those 37 years I had the opportunity to share the cultures of the many Spanish speaking countries with my students. Of course Argentina was frequently discussed and shown due to my previous 2 year LDS Mission served there while in the process of my degree in Spanish from Brigham Young University. Part of the university training was done in Mexico City, DF to which my wife also accompanied me. During the years of teaching Spanish Mexico's culture was frequently discussed as well due to our family's travels to about 28 of Mexico's 32 states. Día de los Muertos on Nov. 1st and 2nd was a big deal in my classroom with the OFRENDA that took many hours each year to set up and take down. The objects placed on the ofrenda made up an elaborate display with items collected in small towns and villages all over Mexico. It was fun working with so many students over the years sharing the language and the culture as they began their Spanish studies. Some of them have contacted me later informing me of further studies or even working using their Spanish in later years.
