Robert's Story
After graduating from Mt. Pleasant High School, I attended Oberlin College and obtained a degree in math (class of '72). My military draft lottery number was 28, so I signed up for the Navy rather than allow myself to be drafted as cannon fodder into the Army. I served 10 years as a supply officer in the Navy, mostly in the Philippines and Japan. I left the Navy in 1982 and attended Washington State University to get my MBA (c...Expand for more
lass of '84). For the next 24 years, I worked in St. Louis, the Philippines, and Richmond, Virginia as a civilian employee for DoD in the field of operations research, a branch of mathematics. [Yes, a member of the military-industrial complex; part of the '60's strategy of subverting from within. ;-)] I retired in September 2008 and now play the role of Mr. Mom for my two children, an 12-year-old son and a 10-year-old daughter.
