Robert's Story
Well I left Lexington my junior year to move up to Canada where I finished my last Year. I made a deal with the Lexington principal that if I finished the credits up in Canada I could graduate from Lexington High. So I graduated from two high schools! We moved to Virginia where I started my career path, I became an apprentice electrician in 1977 and became a journeyman electrician after four years.
In 1981 I joined the USAF as a Biomedical Maintenance Technician, traveled the world and lasted for eight years. I got out of the Air Force and worked for a company repairing dental equipment. I did this for about 4-5 years then decided I wanted to work with computers. I worked at a printing company during the day as an entry level graphics person and took computer school at night.
Around 1995, I meet this wonderful woman next door that was going through a divorce, she had three young daughters that at the time did not like me very much. I hung in there for four years finally asking this woman to marry me on the top of Mt Moosilauke in New Hampshire. s were in on the action and did a fantastic job of keeping a secret! So I got married for the first time when I was 44 to Martha Gluek Evancich and instantly had three wonderful step-daughters. We moved to MA and I started my career in computers, I started at 40K a year! Sometimes I wonder how we managed as we moved into an antique house that needed a lot of work.
So I have been gaining ground in my career and for the past eight years I have been doing most of my work in the public sector. Today as I write this (14 Sept 2013) I begin my last four weeks in Kuwait. I will head back home after a years time, I AM READY! When I return, we will start getting our house ready to put on the market in the spring. We are moving up to my wife's parents place that we bought out of the estate 2-3 years ago. It is a wonderful place in Orford New Hampshire, 200 acres with an old farm house we will be tearing down to build a new place on the same spot. It has some fantastic views of the mountains!
The new house is all finished, we have been in for a year now and it has been great! Lots of work yet to do, put some plants around the house, build the patio, but we are almost there!
