Robert's Story
Life
Earned my U.S. Merchant Marine Officer's license and became a ship captain. Graduated from Univ. of Florida with a B.A. and went on to grad school and recieved my Master of Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island.
Spent three years in Bermuda as the captain of an oceanographic research vessel. Spent five years at the University of Alaska Fairbanks as the senior technician for scientific research missions to the Arctic Ocean. sian icebreakers (photos). I'm now the captain for the white vessel in the photo section and recently set the ship's record for the longest time underway, two months at sea without visiting a port.
If you try to Google me, you may recall that I went by my stepfather's last name. Fortunately for me, it has allowed me a degree of anonymity in this age of the internet considering my very regretful incident (apologies classmates!).
Have not had any contact with LE since my adventure and have not even had a traffic ticket in 18 years.
