Hi, Let me try and say something... I finally reached repentance. I saw what a sinner I was, I saw I needed to be forgiven by Jesus- who died for us on the cross to pay for our sins- and now I am a genuine Christian, not just a "head knowledge" one for decades, as I put it. There are some verses in the New Testament that back this up. Not everyone who calls me Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven but only those who do the will of my Father in heaven. Another verse is, They honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me. Another is, Didn't we cast out demons in your name? And Jesus replied, I never knew you. I read a tract when I was 17 and prayed the prayer in the back and figured, OK, I'm set. But, like the story of the prodigal son, we need to see our sinfulness with our own two eyes and come to terms that the wage of sin is death. That sounds a little bit much but in actuality, what is behind our sinning is what happened in the Garden of Eden. A verse goes, As in Adam, all die, so in Christ shall all be made alive.
