Robert's Story
Life
I was only at SMHS for the first three years but have always thought of that as "my" high school class. Parents moved us to a very small town in southern Illinois right after the end of my junior year. There were more people in my "class" in Santa Maria High than there were in the entire school. Joined the Navy to get away, and stayed in for 5 years. When I left the Navy I started working for an engineering firm in San Diego. Worked for a couple different engineering firms until I opened my own firm in 1989. I started teaching CADD and hired some great people to do CADD work for various clients around town. next 11 years I had over 2500 students and became the largest CADD firm in the county. And somwhere in the middle of all that I got remarried and had two kids. I made a promise to my wife that when the kids where old enough for schol we'd move back to her home town so the kids could grow up in a small town with lots of family around. For the most part it been very good, but I miss being able to pick from a multiltude of good resturaunts, or shows, or for that matter shopping centers. But it's growing on me. Now that I have a life I wanted to get back in touch with some of those that helped shape in into what it is today.
