Life
I'm a writer living in Germany, married, with two children (son 19 - daughter 14) from this marriage and a married daughter 31, living in Texas, from a previous life...I have written a poem especially for you...my High School classmates:
On matriculating in Puerto Rico

On a blue bus ride
of tropical fog, the
smell of burnt sugarcane
lingered, semi-sweet in...Expand for more
the air;
An orange haze signaled
a new day to begin,
and the silent gaze of men
with burnt, leather
skin and sharp machetes
taught us to treasure
our heavy books,
bound in brown paper
to protect against wear,
taught us to treasure
the new school day
on a tropical isle
filled with sweet felicity.
