Robert's Story
I enlisted in the USMC in 1972 and ended up making a career of it. I spent over 20 years in the counterintelligence/counterterrorism business, operating mostly in the Far East and Central America, including places like Japan, Korea, Philippines, Panama, Honduras and others. Japan is like a second home to me. While there I earned a black belt in Shorinryu karate, an A.A. in Japanese language and a B.A. in Asian Studies (later earned an M.S. in Strategic Intelligence). ach other! We have a daughter, son and two grandchildren.
I retired from the Marine Corps as a Major in '93 and went to work as a defense contractor. Not much changed. I continued to travel almost as much as I did while on active duty. In addition to traveling all over the U.S. I made frequent trips to Thailand, Panama and Japan. Finally completely retired in 2014.
After years of moving around, we finally settled in southwest Florida in 2018,. Now, I spend most of my time cycling and napping out on the lanai. We try to spend some time in Japan every year.
