Robert's Story
Life has been good since June of '65. After a brief run at a religious community of teaching brothers, I left and began college at Seton Hall. After graduation, I taught biology for a while in NJ and with the Peace Corps but returned to grad school and before I knew it I had MA and Ph.D. in hand and my career in psychology was underway. It has had its moments, but, overall it's been incredibly rewarding. I'm married to the love of my life, Lorraine, a Jersey City native, for 31 years now. She's a Douglas College grad and we met at SHU in a Statistics class in 1972 and married in '77. Lorraine is a principal in the NJ public schools in Bergen County. Life has indeed been sweet since with a great home in Union, NJ and a shore house in Lavallette. We've been very active at a local yacht club and I have remained involved in racing sailboats over the years. However, in recent years I've been more involved on the race management side rather than as a competitor. Professionally, I am in private practice in Springfield and am on staff at a local community hospital and on the clinical faculty of UMDNJ as well as The Institute for Psychoanalysis of NJ, where I did an 11 year post-doc. Life continues to unroll in front of me and I never seem to quite know what is coming next, but it's been good to me. ether with old friends and share some wonderful (and maybe, not so wonderful) stories and memories.

Workplace
Work experience has been varied. I've taught Biology in the Peace Corps and the public schools of NJ. I was a school psychologist in NJ for about 20 years the last few of which saw me finish my NJ license in Psychology and establish a private practice in Springfield in 1984 where I have hung my hat every morning since. I can't believe I've been in one place for that long...24 yrs! But even that has brought wonderfully new and exciting opportunities. Since moving into private practice in '84, I've also taught or supervised at UMDNJ, Rutgers/GSAPP, SHU, Farleigh Dickenson University, Pace University, Kean University and Monmouth University and am now on the faculty of the psychoanalytic institute where I did my post-doc. Combining private clinical work with teaching and supervision of graduate students and newly licensed psychologists has been a great professional life. Hopefully it will go on for a loooooong time yet!
