Robert's Story
Grab a tissue or pop an anti depressant here it goes!
My home life in West Carrollton was not good living with my alcoholic father from 1974-1979 so the fastest way out was to join Jimmie Carters Army. My dad continued being a jerk to this day. He sadly was diagnosed with lung cancer here recently. Even though we are not close at all to this day, I still wish him a good recovery. Sadly, my dad passed away Sunday March 8TH,2009. I will miss you dad regardless of our past.
After graduating in 1979, I was already signed up to serve 3 years in the U.S. Army. Most people would of gone on to college. As a matter of fact, I was going to attend Ohio University and major in communications to be a world famous broadcaster but I joined the frickin Army instead. What was I thinking? The Army taught me a lot about life.
After serving my 3 years active in the U.S Army, I came back home to Oakwood Ohio to live with my grandma Moore. Man, let the parties begin! Grandma would go to Florida 3 months out of every year and leave me the house. This was awesome! I got into the party scene after High School. Kind of a late bloomer. I was bone straight all my life till I joined the Army. I gave up the p...Expand for more
arty scene totally around 1992. I was smart enough to know, your body and mind can't take this crap for ever!
I still had a desire to get into broadcasting so I went in debt in 1983 to go to the International School Of Broadcasting over on Smithville Road here in Dayton. This school was a bit of a joke but I graduated as "Best Announcer" with a 4.0 grade average. I was the only person in my class that had a job just before we actually graduated. It was the 3,000 watt flame thrower in Urbana 101.7 WCOM. It's now Kiss Country owned by Clear Channel.
I thought I was off and running with my radio career until...two months later I wrecked my car and had to quit WCOM.
From 1983 to now, I have worked so many different jobs it has been amazing. Most payed very low wages.
As far as my drumming career. I sold my drum set after my short career with the "Dingles" about 1979. I have jammed here and there but never bought another drum set. I miss playing.
Sadly my mother, two step brothers, step father and all my grand parents have passed away. I miss my mother the most. She was only 57 in 1997 when she passed away from breast cancer.
I don't know what lies ahead of me but I'm fairly happy!
