Robert's Story

ohhhh-kaaaay....hmmm.... Well, let's just start with high school; I went to Neff for 9th-10th grade (78-80). I was one of those kids nobody really knew. I felt pretty backward at that age. I was in the band (Norm Reynolds and I got tossed out of the band room on at least a few occasions...man, we were screw-ups) and photography, etc., but I wasn't what you would call 'outgoing'. I was an observer, more or less. I was the guy who had painful crushes on a few girls, but would rather die than say anything to her. I think I could remember a few names if I really tried. Hmm, let me think <evil smirk>. After 10th grade, my dad got a bug in his butt, and moved us to Crestline/Lake Arrowhead. Went to 'Rim-of-the-World' high for just a year (11th grade, 80-81). What a strange year that was; I have hardly any memories at all, and only remember two people; Todd Megerle and Natalie Woerth. From there, my dad's butt-bug got the best of him again, and we were off to St. Louis, MO. We actually lived in Edwardsville, IL., but close enough. What a nightmare that was--My senior year, and I don't know a soul. That's not entirely true- I knew enough kids (namely Brian Duncan and Mike Gentry) that I managed to get drunk my very first time, and horrendously sick from it too. We were drinking MadDog 20/20. I was so sick in fact, I didn't drink again until I was 21. Brian, if you're out there somewhere, gimme a buzz. It's been 20 years since we last spoke. Same applies to Norm Reynolds, Dave Rasmussen & Todd Megerle. 717-496-8035 Ok..that bug bites again. The weekend after my graduation, we move again. It's back to...Expand for more
the Lake Arrowhead area. I spent a year or so trying to figure things out, when somehow, I came up with this brilliant plan to go do missionary work for my church (yeah...surprised me too). They sent me to Pittsburgh. I did that for a year and a half, decided it wasn't for me, and came home. Once back home in Arrowhead, I bought myself a Toyota 4X4 (all the rage back then), and headed back to Pittsburgh to spend the summer with all the friends I had made. It was then and there I met my (now) ex-wife. We were married for 7 years, and had two kids. They're 20 (Keri) and 18 (Andrew)now. MY GOD how time flies. Just a paragraph ago, I talking about high school. Now I'm writing about my 20y/o, 2nd-year college student. Anyway, she (ex-wife) and I decided to make a go of things shortly after meeting, and she moved to CA with me. We got married 9 months later, and immediately started our family (oops). About 4 years later, she decided she wanted to go back home, and we were off to Pittsburgh. A year later we bought our 1st house (1993). A year or so later, she ran off with her boss; didn't see that comin'. I finally moved out of that house just a few months ago, Sept '07. The kids are into adulthood, and I no longer saw a reason stay in a town I didn't care for. I now live in Chambersburg, PA. It's a great town. Also, I decided to take 6 mos off from my career (IS/IT Management) to catch up with myself, so to speak. Early retirement is not as cool as it sounds. I'm going stir-crazy. It's remarkable how many memories from so long ago, can come flooding back, just by sitting and typing for a few minutes.
