Robert***Robbie***'s Story

Enjoyed reading the stories of many of you that have chosen to share their life and have enjoyed catching up, albeit from a far while reading what you have had to share. Here is my story¿¿¿ I did not do too much immediately after high school. I spent most of my time working at many different jobs, (auto mechanic, ski technician, bartender, waiter, solar heating¿.I could go on) going to El Camino, and cruising without any real direction. In 1981 I started flying and achieved my private pilots license in 1982 In 1982 I attended an intense life and career seminar that helped me focus on the career direction I was to ultimately pursue. I decided to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona in Jan 1983. In August 1983, while back in LA over the summer break and working at Tequila Willies, I met my soon to be wife, Karen, while she was having breakfast with one of her girl friends. I tell all my friends we met in a bar. Karen likes to quickly correct me. That was in August 1983. By December 1983 we were engaged and in August of 1994 we were married. I¿ll do the math for you¿that¿s 24 years¿..As those of you that have met Karen know, I definitely married up. After completing college in 1987 I started working as a flight instructor out of Torrance airport. In January of 1989 I worked for Scenic Airlines flying passengers over the Grand Canyon between Las Vegas and Grand Canyon airport. In April 1989 got my regional airline job with what was then Wings West/American Eagle, based at LAX. I must say that it was a real treat being out on the airport ramp doing a walk around of my aircraft, and looking across the south runways back ...Expand for more
at good ole El Segundo where it all began. In November of 1990 Karen and I had our first son, Matthew, and six years later we had our second son, Daniel. We are blessed to have two fantastic boys. The boys keep busy doing lacrosse, baseball, basketball, mountain bikes, motorcycles and quads. No idle minds. My youngest has been playing piano for the last five years and most recently has been learning the guitar. My oldest son Matt is a senior now in high school and will soon decide where he will go to college, likely one of the schools here in Arizona. Oh yea,we moved to Arizona in 1991 when my son Matt was 1 year old. Nothing in Los Angeles was affordable for a new regional airline pilot. In 1996 I was hired by Northwest Airlines. In 2008 Northwest and Delta merged. So I now work for Delta. When not working Karen and I keep busy getting the boys to their activities. We do the normal meeting up with friends for a dinner out or just visiting. We take the boys and travel every so often. We go to Glamis and Red Rock motorcycle/quad riding. Most recently I am actively trading stocks/options. Steep learning curve to be sure! Just rode at a motocross track recently opened up here in Phoenix,..yea I'm still sore four days later. I read a lot while on trips. I am a bit of a computer geek, I have built all of my home machines. May consider a Mac for my next computer, just to see how life is on the ¿other¿ side. That is it in a nut shell¿¿please take the time and drop me a quick email if you would like to catch up, I would enjoy hearing from you.¿.rstepp at cox dot net This class mates won't let you put you email address in so I put it in phonetic form....
