Robert's Story
What ever happened to Robbie Stubblefield?
A couple of folks that I have been able to reconnect with have asked what ever happened to me when I disappeared from Fairbanks in the summer of 1971. One morning I woke up and realized that my partying had reached way too high a level and that my life was going nowhere. So, I built a plywood box, threw everything in it that I owned that would fit, sold/gave away the rest, and left for Dallas, Texas.
My Mom was living in Irving, Texas, so I moved in with her while I tried to figure out what would come next. One evening I saw an ad for a Computer Technician school and thought, "That sounds like fun" and enrolled the next day. Six months later I graduated and was offered a job with Digital Equipment in Massachusetts. Never having been on the East Coast I figured I'd give it a try.

tep in my plan to work my way back to Alaska. Well, 12 years and my son Sean later we were still in Colorado Springs. I was still with Digital and had worked my way up from Technician to Engineer.
Being the greedy sort that I am I took a job in Longmont Colorado for more money and a Management position. 15 years later and another company change, convinced me that it was time to retire. I chose April Fools Day as an appropriate day to end my career. Since then Linda and I have been traveling and I have been commuting 50 feet to work in my backyard wood working shop. Seems like my family has an endless list of things they want me to make for them!
Retirement if better than I ever thought it could be and 2 granddaughters (Melanie and Madeline) complete the picture. We are happier than we deserve. I hope life has treated all of you and yours as well.
