Robert's Story
Stayed in Pueblo to finish a BA in mathematics and foreign languages. Lived one block away from Central 1.5 years at McCarthy Funeral Home. I could tell you some stories. Moved to Springfield down near Oklahoma working as a cook and teacher. Had all kinds of blue collar jobs over the years as these were the people I felt more comfortable with. Visited the Soviet Union in '69 and '73 immensely enjoying my time there, seeing Armstrong and Aldrin land on the moon live on TV in Kiev in the Ukraine. Immigrated to Canada in '76 building a house for my parents who retired there. Didn't have running water and inside plumbing for several years. I miss that. Survived by substitute teaching, carpentry, and as tennis instructor. Had a short stint in Liberia with Peace Corps. Got malaria the 1st week, and it went down hill from there. Left before some alien creature took over my body. In '81 joined the Baha'i Faith after considering myself an atheist for many years. nglish but also training airline staff, doing handyman stuff for other foreigners, and medical qi gong healing. Got married a 2nd time there to a Chinese and have one daughter and one son. I still feel that I am about 35% Chinese. '05 moved to Hawaii to care for my father, but that didn't work well. Moved to California, which I hate, to be near my children who lived with my 2nd ex; they are both in college now. Have traveled to or through 40 countries, but in some ways would rather be back in Macau. Continue to do handyman work and maintenance, what I am most happy doing. My doctor is Chinese, as are my dentist, my landlord (being divorced again living with 4 mainland Chinese guys), my boss (also from Macau), and my therapist. I got a discount for the package deal. If you are ever in San Francisco, I'll take you to a great cafe in Chinatown. I just work part time these days, saving time for just watching wrinkles develop and doing jigsaw puzzles and working on improving my spiritual life. One of my favorite pass-times is nauseating people with no sense of humor with my warped sense of humor and having a rip-roaring, roll-on-the-floor time with others with a good sense of humor.
