Robert's Story
Life is short and you have to cram to do everything you want to in the little time you have. I took up the piano when I retired, I belong to a group that works on and collects old antique clocks at a local high school. Maintaining and updating the house is almost a full time job. I get my enjoyment from my pets: babeee, my small dog, and the 6 tortoise I raised from eggs for the last 35 years. I find old movies enjoyable, watch a couple every day on large screen TV. Still have the same wife I started with 48 years ago, 3 kids, a bunch of grand kids and a couple of great grand kids. I'm slowing down, take a 2 hour noon nap every day, had a total knee replacement in 2007 but it is doing great, considering some limitations. Cancer will eventually get me, probably, since I've already had a couple of events and am being watched by my doctors. My back goes out every so often and my chiropractor has to keep me upright. My license plate is "BAD BACK". Sitting at the computer a couple hours a day doesn't help it at all, but...Expand for more
that is another form of enjoyment for me. Guess I'm a Computer Geek. Still got my own teeth and lots of hair. Funny, but it never turned gray? My beard is gray though. I was always skinny as a kid, didn't gain any weight till I went into the army. Everyone was complaining how awful army food was, but for me, it was wonderful. That's when I realized what an awful cook my mom was. By contrast, my wife is a wonderful cook, every meal is a feast. And I look forward to each and every meal, wondering what she'll put in front of me next. Life has been good! Don't know what I would have done differently. It started out a little confusing, but all fell into place as it went along. There were some bad times, but they were probably learning exercises. You've got to have some bad times so you can recognize those good times. I've made mistakes along the way but like to think I learned from them. The more mistakes you make, the smarter you become. I've got to say, "I'm not too dumb." sweetbobby at earth link dot net.
