Robert's Story
I wasn't able to attend our graduation ceremony. My parents divorced and moved to different locations and I moved to Evergreen with Bill Lintons older brother and his wife and 2 year old daughter that January 5 months before our graduation. They had a tiny 1 bedroom cabin with an outhouse no less. I parked my 67 chevy van in there driveway and slept in that for about a year.We (Mark Linton) and I did odd construction jobs in the Evergreen, Aspen Park area. My mom decided she wanted to live in Aspen Park and bought a tiny 1 bedroom cabin with actual indoor plumbing. My sister Sandi Young, and I lived together there while Mark and I added a large front living room and built a second story on it with 2 more bedrooms and another bath. From that time on, I've stayed almost consistently in the home construction industry except when Bil Linton heard that Doug Eglof was an underground miner up in Leadville making good money. So we headed up there and were both hired on a mining crew. Those where some really crazy times. I ended up setting up a tent way up above leadville and living in that for the summer.
I also moved to Florrece Colorado and worked with Mark Linton in the Cripple Creek area building vacation homes. Mark and his wife were living on 5 acres he had bought and set a teepee for them to live in. We were so dead set on getting "off the grid".
I moved a considerable amount and ended back up in Denver. It was while I was living in an apartment off Colorado blvd that I finally realized that I was seriously not living a life that I cared to live. I went to a Sunday service of the Rocky Mountain Christian Singles and it changed my life! I now found excitement in so many new...Expand for more
things. I was able to go on a missions trip to Guatamala to help build a church for the summer. My mom joined Wycliff Bible translators and was stationed in a small town in eastern Peru on the amazon river. Before she left she asked if I would help her move what few belongings she had to San Diego and she would fly me back. I said sure but forget about flying me back, I was tired of working construction and starving in the winter time. After a year here in San Diego I was able to visit my mom in Peru and spent 3 months traveling around the Amazon, Macchu Pichu, and some of the Andes. All incredible.
I got very involved in the strong Christian movement here in San Diego with the Vineyard Christian church and the Calvary Christian church. That is where I met and married my wife 25 years ago. We bought a house right after our wedding and were expecting 4 weeks after our wedding. Our 1st daughter was born Jan. 18th, 1986, her name is Jessy and our second daughter Laura was born Jan. 2, 1990. They both attend college, Jessy is trying to get into post graduate school as a physical therapist and Laura is attending Fullerton State in the theater arts department. She also works at Disneyland as a fairy godmother in training. We get into Disneyland free ha ha.
We bought a house 45 miles east of San Diego in a tiny town called Pine Valley and moved in a year ago May 15. I've posted a bunch of pictures of the last year of us remodeling the house. Remodeling my mother-in-laws mobile home 75 miles north of us and the roll-top desk that I've spent the last 2 years building and is now on display at the San Diego county fair.
