Robert's Story
Life
I was known in school as Robert Benish. My legal last name is and was Despain. I went by my stepfathers last name for very personal reasons. after leaving school I reverted back to my legal last name.
lets see, after high school...Ive done a bit of this and that. the things that stand out most, Ive traveled the country as a tractor trailer driver, been a bricklayer, and have now settled in Seattle. Currently I work as a Dairy Department Manager for a major grocery chain.
Here in Seattle, you cant turn around without someone trying to convince you you are an idiot if you have conservative beliefs. I avoid that with my work shift.
As for hobbies, since I dont get out very often, I have to do things that keep me at home. There are only two things that currently take quite a bit of my free time. I collect coins and currency. The pride of my coins is an 1856 Flying Eagle penny. My other hobby is working on models of WWII Aircraft and Armor such as tanks. To do a model RIGHT, taking 4 weeks on a single model is easy to do.
Something Ive never really discussed with anyone are the people that I look up to. My personal heros if you will. I would like to name my Step Father Dr. R.W. Benish O.D.(retired) as probably my biggest hero. He stepped up to the plate and did things he didnt have to and in my book, he is my Superman.
For the last 23 years Ive lived in Seattle and wh...Expand for more
ile I miss a lot of friends back in Virginia. I have serious doubts I will ever return there. I admit I miss the Southern way of life and these west coast people are just stark raving nuts. Give me the summer Thunderstorms over the steady depressing rains that fall out here.

School
Looking back at how I paid attention in school or rather lack of it, Im amazed that I actually did learn during that period. I was incredibly lazy about school work. While Im still a bit on the lazy side, I now pay attention when theres something going on that I NEED to learn.
If I could do it all over again, ya know, mistakes and all (and I made more than my fair share) I dont think Id change anything now. Its a long hard road but the lessons Ive learned, I hope Im a better man for them.
