Robert's Story

Graduated summer of 73’. I pursued a career in the shoe business after getting kicked off the football team for fighting. I worked for Woodward & Lothrop 2 1/2 years starting as a commission sales person , graduating to the Mens Hat Buyer over 16 stores. In 1977, I moved into the wholesale shoe business, as a manufacturer rep, for Weyco Shoe Corp. My career led me to Florida where I have lived for 40 years. Starting as a commission rep , I opened the Central & South American Markets, and was promoted to Director Of International Division. My career allowed my to learn new cultures, for example I reopened the South African Market right after Apartheid ended. Truly an incredible experience. A side note to Senora Fernandez Camus, you said I would never learn Spanish well , YOU WERE WRONG! I spent 18 years traveling, developing businesses in Central and South America. I left the international business and went to work for Nike. I was hired as one of 8 individuals selected to launch the new Nike Cole Hahn Men’s Line ( high end fashion s...Expand for more
hoes $135-$1000 per pair. I then worked for Wolverine World Wide, developing diabetic footwear. I retired from the wholesale shoe business after 30 years, and worked for the Head Doctor who was in charge of approving all medical apparatuses for Medicare billing in the U.S. My job was to rewrite the all guidelines for diabetic footwear billed thru Medicare. My job was completed, and it was now time for me to move on. I then became a a Division 1 & 2 NCAA Umpire, Eight years of umpiring can take its toll, so I went back to school at 53, and became a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Culinary College, and enjoyed a 9 year career as a corporate, and personal executive chief. I’m retired now, enough is enough! My personal life , married 1979 to 2008 to a great lady we share 1 child our beautiful daughter Jessica Paige. I was divorced in 2008 and started a new relationship, the most important of my life with Jesus Christ my savior. Six months after I turned my life over to God, I found my wife of 10 years Karin. We love to spend our time together
