Robert's Story

Life Greetings to all. After graduation I just kind of bummed around for a couple of years. Then my Dad ask me one day, "Son, don't you think that you should find a job?" I said "Yes". And set out to find one. I cut my hair and went out in search of the American dream. To be a part of society. To exist. Well, as it was, every job that I applied for asked me if I had any experience. To that I had to say "No". So, How does one get experience if you don't have any job to give you that insight? A sort of a "Catch 22" if you please. I entered the services of our United States Coast Guard and for the next 4 years I gained some work experience. That was in 1973. I was Honorably discharged from the service in 1977 and got hired on as a deck hand on a commercial fishing boat that fish for Halibut and Black cod in Alaska. The work was pretty exciting and I got to see alot of south east Alaska. I did this for two years in the summertime. Didn't make a whole lot of money but was able to sustain myself ok. Next, I enrolled in the Ron Bailie School of Broadcast in Seattle. It was a one year technical course that got me the credentials for operating in radio stations. I became a DJ at a station in Central Washington at KULE. Which was later sold and call letters changed to KTBI. Worked there for 15 years. During that time I also became a Christian. That is a different story that is too long to add here. So, if you would like to read the Testimony of that I can send it to you in a se...Expand for more
parate email. Just let me know & I will pass it along to you. Next, I left the radio station and went to work for a Pool and spa outfit that lasted for about five years. I was married once for a short while and then got a divorce from that marriage. I took up Fly Fishing and just enjoyed the great outdoors. Then I found myself wanting to be with somebody that I could share my life with. I went on the internet and found a website that was a Christian web site and filled out their singles page and submitted it. I got a few hits and chose a person who I felt was very sincere in their thoughts. We conversed for a year on line and later by phone a little bit. She lived in West Virginia and then She came out to met me in the Seattle area. She is a school teacher and over her Christmas vacation she came out. Her name is Marie and we decided to get married. Did that in July 31, 1999. She stayed out in Washington for 3 years and then we decided to move back to WV. She did that in 2002. I lost my job in the pool business and took up driving a Big truck all over the country. I based myself out of WV also and have been living here ever since. But I also got fired from the trucking company that I worked for and took up driving a school bus for the county in which I reside in. We have started our ninth year of marriage. Lord willing, we will be together until He comes back for us. Everyone who reads this, We wish you God's Blessings and much prosperity. Robert Olafson (AKA Reuben)
