Robert's Story
Well, let us start by me growing up in San Diego, moving to New York and the Bronx for a short period, then back to San Diego. California is my home, and in totality, you can't ask to be in a better place.
After being a beach bum most of my life and arriving from Mission Bay, San Diego in the middle of my junior year, didn't make many friends during the time at Hart. Moved from San Diego to Newhall where I attended as you know Hart High. It was very hard since most of the time most friendships were established in San Diego, so I don't have any real friendships but have taken it as my real high school home. Finally ended up in the Antelope Valley where I reside now.
I have two beautiful adult children (boy/girl), and nine grandchildren. I may be a little slower but not down for the count for sure!
I spend most of my time with my children and friends with plenty of sunlight, peanuts, beer, and good food.
Taught my daughter how to play ball and went on to a full ride in college and now a mother of 4 and doing very well.
My son played as well, but just a little short on natural talent but did find his calling in martial arts and economics. Now he has a family of 5 and doing very well.
Still, love playing/coaching baseball or softball. Not so much time at the gym anymore, spending time at the beach (beach activities), camping, seeing movies, and dinner.
I always wanted to be a ballplayer when I grew up, but as it turned out, I was pretty small at that time, so that didn't work out. Funny thing is. I graduated at 5.7 130lb, and now I am 5'8 170. Go figure (not from overeating)?
My first crush at was in junior high school at Pacific Beach Jr. High and Hart. I don't want to give any names, but I see there in classmates.com, but I don't have the nerve to tell them about it and don't want to cause any problems either.
My family and friends thought that was a drug addict. The real secret was I was high on life as I am now.
As it turns out, they were wrong about everything; they figured I was too shy to get out and meet people. But I broke out of that in at age 17.
The wildest thing I did in school...Expand for more
was the old KISS days and breathing fire. Wow, was I that stupid?
I did play baseball in high school, and if there were a teacher, I would like to have seen and thanked him with all my heart for the life advice he gave me during my short career there. However, I did go on to play in independent.
I try not to let things get to me. When I do get upset, I tend to go out to a restaurant the get some buffalo wings or something.
Relaxation comes in many ways, my dogs tend to keep me relaxed, and their love for me keeps me smiling. Sometimes I crank up some Frank Sinatra glass of wine and kick it in front of the fireplace, front or back patio.
I am pretty conservative and used to be a political junkie but got away from that. But, I still am aware of the public policy and ramifications of the lackluster congress we have messed up our lives.
My biggest surprise in my life is my two children and granddaughter who are so beautiful. I never thought, and who does that I could be a father and grandpa (since this update, I now have eight grandchildren, and I have good health).
The funniest thing I learn as a parent is the fact they thought I was born as an adult. My children thought they could get away with things and never thought the parents were in their shoes at one time. Funny how the circle of life continues.
Turning 63 this year was not such a big deal to me. I still run and very active. My mind is still a kid, but my joints keep reminding me.
My personal life has been in uneasy for a while. I fell in love with a person who has given me her heart but has not made the trip to be with me. Saddened by it. However, I manage day to day. I guess for me to be truly happy is to find that special person, but I am not in the habit of looking. When it happens, it happens. For now, I live pretty comfortable, have my children/grandchild and my puppies (two Golden's, Dash and Rusty).
That's about it. There is a great deal left out, but you get a general idea. Drop me a line if you knew me. I am easily accessible and will be happy to hear from you.
Thank you, and God bless,
Robert
