Robert's Story
Since I'm writing this and you're reading it, we both have something in common to celebrate! We have survived -- and hopefully enjoyed -- a 50 year journey since high school.
My journey provided an undergraduate degree in Virginia and then a 22-year Air Force career as pilot, military attache, and college instructor. Since then, I've been privileged to serve as a special investigator for the Dept of the Air Force and as a Dale Carnegie instructor. How grateful I am to have survived 2000 combat flight hours in Southeast Asia and other narrow escapes such as a last-minute plane switch from PanAm Flight 103 (that sadly went down over Lockerbie, Scotland).
I'm blessed with a dear wife and best friend, Pat, whom I met in Colorado Springs and married while in school in Virginia. We have two sons and two daughters, all married, and 11-about-to-be-12 grandchildren between 1 and 10 years old. A daughter, son-i...Expand for more
n-law, and 4 grandchildren live in Okinawa (Marine Corps captain on assignment there). Fortunately, our three other families live in the eastern U.S., all within striking distance of our home in Myrtle Beach, SC.
My military and business travels have taken me to 56 countries, but ironically, have only allowed trips to Denver/Westminster on two occasions, one of which was our (30th?) class reunion.
Pat and I have had typical challenges that we all face -- deaths of parents, heart surgery, skin cancer treatments, etc., but we find even these help us appreciate life even more, become resilient, and maintain our dependence on God to guide our path into the future.
I treasure the memories I have of you, my Westminster classmates, and hope that your lives, too, are filled with good memories of the past and wonderful plans for the future as we invest ourselves in the lives of our loved ones and world around us.
