Roberta's Story
Life
Hi I graduated in 1982. Had my first child on Dec. 4th of 1985, she graduated from WMHS too! Had my second child on April 28th of 1992. She will be attending Rio Grande High School. In fact just made it as a JV Cheerleader!! Go Ravens! Opps! haha Hey the school is still on the same side of the city eh? I never married but I am engaged now to a wonderful man. No wedding date as of yet. I work for the city of Albuq as a 911 operator, going on 12yrs, actually the 24th of this month!! Wow how time just passes us by huh? It's a great job, very rewarding. Life has been pretty much average. Which is good I suppose. Thats pretty much it.
Workplace
I started my work life when I was 16yo, worked for Mcdonalds, go figure! Worked there for 5yrs, worked my way up to management. I enjoyed it. I left when I had my first child. Never went returned to Mcdonalds. Next got hired on at Walgreens first as a cashier the got promoted to book keeper. I guess those accounting classes with Mr Luna paid off huh? er, left Walgreens for to work for FIB for better hours and money. I worked there for about 3 years. I then moved on to telecommunications with an answering service called Abbey's, that was a great job, I loved it, was there for 5 years. Left that job because of pay issues, while working for Abbeys I applied for City of Albuq Police Communications. Got hired and I am still presently working there. I finally found my calling. Helping people at their complete worst in life. Being a lifeline is very high stress and scary at times, but it has been the most rewarding and couldn't see myself doing anything else. I plan to stay until I retire. It pays fairly decent for someone who has not been to college. Benefits are great too! Every job has its pros and cons. I just hope I never have to hear from you while I'm doing my job, I think you all would agree on that one! Thats about it, be safe and remember 911 is for emergencies only!! Which means immediate danger to life or property. Anything else us the non-emergency number (242-cops) thats (242-2677). Peace*
