Robin's Story
Life
After graduating from Cornell (after an extended stay full of incompletes), I spent a year and a half working at a library at Brandeis U. in the Boston area. Then I went back to upstate New York, got an undergraduate background in Speech Pathology, and went on to Bloomington Indiana (where I met up with a dear friend, Michele Piccari) for a graduate degree in the same area, swung back to the east coast to the Washington, D.C. area to work in a school for learning disabled kids and have been here ever since. I got married about 9 years ago and am now (temporarily) a "stay at home mom" of two wonderful girls, ages 3 and 6. It's been one of the most demanding, exhausting and worthwhile "jobs" I've ever had. It seems like a million years since high school and while I'm certainly not yearning for my high school days, I sure wish I was 18 again (in bod...Expand for more
y, not mind!).
Now, I've since returned back to work in a slightly different capacity, and my little ones are now 14 and 17. I am still in the Washington dc area and the years feel like they've just flown by. I can barely remember my days at Bay Shore High School, but do have fond ones of it!
Well, now it is December 2015, my eldest daughter is almost 21 and my youngest is almost 18, and I feel like I'm 85!!.....where have the years gone? I have since changed my job to working in the public school system in Montgomery County MD....it is quite a change, with lots more paperwork/meetings/overall work and a higher caseload, but at least my pay has doubled. Yet, I'm still dreaming of retiring if I can financially speaking (kids cost so much $$!!). My oldest daughter is almost graduated from undergrad and my youngest is about to start college next Fall.
