Robin's Story

Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well. Since high school, which for me wasn't too much fun. It was a lonely, time for me. My title I guess was a free thinker. All my good friends from JR high went off into their groups and I didn't feel I fit into any one group. I have traveled all over the country and have seen so many miraculous scenes of Nature. I changed a lot that summer and my only friends were older or younger. I got married in 1981. He is now an Emergency room physician. We had a beautiful daughter Shannon & now an almost 3 yr. old granddaughter McKayla Marie We call her K or Kayla. She is as sweet as honey from the hive, and so cute. I'll give ya a break of a Proud grandma talk. My daughter will be 25 next March. She moved to TX to live near her father again. He helps them out financially in ways I can't. I miss them terribly I have had many jobs, from working at a stock brokerage firm straight out of high school to a Radio DJ or as they say now "On air personality" on the radio in Texas. I did mortgages for yrs. and then I went to work for Suburban Homes. I loved my adventures. In Utah we were just amazed. The crisp snow crunching under our feet as we ran into the B&B we were staying at,from the outdoor hot tub on the top of Utah. The temp in Vegas was 93 degrees when we left. I swear Utah is soo beautiful. It looks like silly sand. Remember that stuff. Seriously it is breathtaking. My daughter and I hiked 7 miles to a natural waterfall in the middle of nowhere. It was water melting off the mountains and so cold. Beautiful, stars at night millions of them where were in Escalate. Bryce Canyon was not a natural park when I drove through. It is now. If you ever have a chance go to Utah, start from Vegas to Escalate and Bryce canyon. The soil is red or adobe color. There was only 1 bad part. It was driving through mountains and the switch backs. I never heard of them before this. Holy cow, It is like a natural roller coaster without a guy controlling the ride. You are. Then they put these little windows every so often so you can see how high up you are and how far you have gone up the mountain. That required valium after I got there. For you it may be a stiff drink, no kidding But what an expe...Expand for more
rience I had. I have tons, however I will share 2. My life has been crazy at times but an adventure. I am so interesting now. LOL... I crossed the Rio Grande illegally with a couple from England at Big Bend National Park. Only after sweating in 90 degree temp. about a mile, What do we walk into, right into a major problem. The Mexican Federalizes were walking in circles. Then they stopped for 3 minutes at each spot or corner around the cantina with very long loaded high powered weapons. My friend was a Captain in the Army and recognized their ranks and men they were guarding. I believe it was a General and many officers meeting there. Needless to say, we got our Tacoma's and looked around at the little shop and noticed it was a ghost town . Every building had bullets in them. Not a little bullet hole but shot up like you see on TV where the wall is barley standing on some due to all the shooting. The 4 of us were scared to death. The teacher from England was holding my hand so tight. My friend said we had to play it cool so we did shaking the whole time. We were polite to all the people like 5 excluding the military. We were even having a conversation with the officers and this General. My friend was speaking to them, he had been stationed in Nicgura so he know how to speak spanish a little. I counted to 10 and THe Generale laughed so I guess my 5 classes in Spanish, before I dropped the class paid off. They bought us a second round of beer, go figure? Lucky us!! All we wanted to do was get the hell out of there alive. We thanked them for the beer, bought something stupid from the gift tent and left to find our way back 1/2 crocked. Hey 2 beers at 9 a.m. and no food, we were lil drunk. We even said goodbye to the soldiers with the big guns walking in circles. However they never spoke or looked away from where they were looking. Let me remind you I am alive so this went ok, but we walked out very quickly almost backwards waving for fear of our lives. I swear we all kissed the ground when we got across again. The couple we were with weren't even American and they still kissed our land. It was so stupid looking back. If I didn't do it though I wouldn't have this story to tell. Hope to hear from someone.
