Robin's Story
Eight days after graduation I married my husband Lynn. We have been together nearly 42 years. I know, in this day and age that is almost unheard of. In 1972 I gave birth to our first child, Kristin Michelle. She was and still is the light of our life. In 1976 we presented her with a baby brother, Kyle Lynn. They have always been best friends and still are today. Kristin remains single but is happy in her life. She has 3 dogs, one of which is a service dog for her diabetes. She has been a diabetic since before age 3. Kyle on the other hand is in the process of ending his 3rd marriage. The first one he had married way too young. 19 and still in the Army, she was very immature also. # 2 was with a lovely girl, Lexa, who has a daughter, Briana. Briana quickly became our granddaughter and at age 3 she asked us if she could call us grandma & grandpa. She has been such a blessing to us and has matured into a beautiful young lady. Kyle is teaching her to drive and that's been an experience for him. Marriage #3 is to a sweet young lady by the name of Jaymie and that union produced Laceyann Kaitlynne. She is the light of our life. She very smart and all of her pre-school teachers say she is very bright and far ahead of her peers. Because she is a November baby, she will be almost 6 when she starts kindergarten. Jaymie has another daughter, Shianna, who lives with Jaymie's parents in Nevada. She just turned 13 last week. Kyle and Jaymie are now separated and probably be getting divorced. However, shortly after the separation, unbeknownst to her for 4 !/2 months, Jaymie became pregnant with Aaron Chance. I claim Jaymie as my daughter in love and Aaron is our grandson.
Back in 1987 I went back to school and got my AA degree in administrative secretary. I graduated the same year my daughter graduated from high school in 1990. I worked for The Salvation Army for 13 1/2 years until my husband could not longer work and needed me to be at home to care for him.
Since August 2011 we have been in the process of purchasing a new home. My husband was awarded compensation for his agent orange exposure which caused him to have Parkinson's Disease. He has suffered with this dibilatating disease for over 20 years, In 1998 he was unable unable to continue working at his job ...Expand for more
at Fort James paper mill in Halsey, OR. where he had worked for 25 years. At that time I was working for The Salvation Army as a Social Services Director. In the last few years I have had to stop working in order to be his care provider. That being said, his award went back to August of 1999. It was a nice chunk of change and so we began the process of purchasing a new home. It is a brand new, made to order, Palm Harbor home. We are very excited cuz it won't be much longer before we move in. This is my dream home and it will probably be the last one we buy. It is completely handicap accessible and it will serve us nicely for a very long time. It is 4 bedrooms, 2 baths and has over 2100 square feet. About a 1000 sq. ft. than we currently have. At the moment we live in a 1977 3 bedroom, 2 bath manufactured home that is falling apart all around us. The plan is to have it torn down. We live in a mobile home park, and not putting our new home here. For the first time in our married life, we are property owners. If yo u go to my facebook page you will see some pictures that I have posted of our home and the progression of it's placing. You will probably have to go to a lot of older posts to see them, like I said, it has been quite a long process. That is how my life has been in a nut shell. There is plenty of other stuff, but you don't need all the gory details(LOL).
I deal with stress by shutting my self away from everyone and work on my crafts, which include, Scrapbooking, Crocheting, cross stitch and anything that keeps my hands busy.
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have my cell phone, my laptop, , and my Kindle Fire to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
A lot of people have inspired me in many different ways, however, my biggest inspiration comes from Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.
I love Amazing Race, Survivor, Celebrity Apprentice, I like watching the food channel. We have a cat named Cindersue. My main obsession is my crafts, grandchildren and not necessarily in that order.
I have learned from my kids that some things aren't as important as I make them to be. Don't sweat the small stuff!
If I won $100 million, I'd give 10% of it to The Salvation Army, then spend the rest on paying off all my debts , helping my kids and travel..
