Robin's Story

Life... I can't believe we are all in our later sixties now. Again I ask how did that happen? There was a period when this seemed so far away, but how quickly our lives have evolved over time. Retired 100% and enjoying it immensely. Fortunate that I can spend part of the year living on a boat cruising and island hopping in the Bahamas with my guy, my French Canadian captain who In the summer we enjoy sailing on Lake Champlain. and in the winter spend our time boating around Florida and/or the Bahamas. Being a snowbird has turned out to be a good thing. Looking forward to our 50th reunion in 2020! Now 2021 , thank you COVID. I lived in southern CA, twice in Massachusetts, back to Oregon, and now up-state New York in the Adirondacks and Champlain Vally. Someday I had hoped to make the final move to the big island of Hawaii to live a life in sunshine and no snow, instead I got Florida as a snow bird. d and my dearest and best friend, also a Madison alumni, lives just across the Columbia in Vancouver. . My husband, my partner, the love of my life past away unexpectedly in January of 2006.and I would not be the person I have grown to be without his unconditional love, his support and the gift of the love of this amazing man. How blessed I have been to have 3 daughters, 3 step-daughters and 6 step-grandchildren (we were a blended family of yours, mine and ours), to meet the people I have crossed paths with along the way (it really is a small world in many ways), and to especially have my dad for as long as I did, he was my rock and my hero. (he lived with me until he passed away in Nov. of 2007). Life has been full of ups and downs, happiness and sadness, much laughter, many travels, but no regrets. I have learned that life is a gift to be cherished and to live it to the best you can everyday, because it can all be over with a few heartbeats... The best to all...Robin PS: In high school I was one of the shy ones, not very visible - but somewhere along the way I lost the shyness and have grown into myself, College Portland State University Workplace Too many, but my favorite was as a Mutual Fund Accountant.
