One of Robin's favorite quotes is:"For some reason I cannot get my FB section "POLITICS" to post my political beliefs so I am posting them here before my "FAVORITE QUOTES" MY POLITICAL BELIEFS ARE: "Sure you can trust the Government...Just ask an Indian" I do not care for politics as I believe that all politicians lie whether they intend to do so or not as they try to tell us what they believe we want to hear in order to gain votes. However, if they are voted into office, they have convenient memory loss or they are just not able to accomplish the things they promised during their campaign for whatever reason. It can be discouraging so I place my faith in EDoDA (God) as he is the master designer of all things and all things are a part of his plan. I pray for our Government, our Country, and our Citizens, as well as the Governments, Countries and Citizens of our world and that EDoDa (God) in his infinite wisdom will guide us all. May EDoDa (God) Bless us all and keep us in his loving care. "...I have seen that in any great undertaking it is not enough for a man to depend simply upon himself." Lone Man (Isna la-wica) (late 19th century) Teton Sioux "TEN INDIAN COMMANDMENTS" Treat the Earth and all that dwell therein with respect Remain close to The Great Spirit Show great for your fellow beings Work together for the benefit of all Mankind Give assistance and kindness wherever needed Do what you know to be right Look after the well-being of Mind and Body Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater Good Be truthful and honest at all times Take full responsibility for your actions "...everything on the earth has a purpose, every disease an herb to cure it, and every person a mission. This is the Indian theory of existence." Mourning Dove (Christine Quintasket) (1888-1936) Salish "Out of the Indian approach to life there came a great freedom-an intense and absorbing love for nature; a respect for life; enriching faith in a Supreme Power; and principles of truth, honesty, generosity, equity, and brotherhood as a guide to mundane relations." Luther Standing Bear (1868?-1939) Oglala Sioux Chief Wakan Tanka… Great Mystery… teach me how to trust my heart… my mind… my intuition…my inner knowing… the senses of my body… the blessings of my spirit… teach me to trust these things so that I may enter my Sacred Space… and love beyond my fear… and Walk in Balance with the passing of each glorious Sun. Lakota Prayer". More about Robin:"This is "About Me", therefore, this quote is relative. Please read further. "Out of the Indian approach to life there came a great freedom-an intense and absorbing love for nature; a respect for life; enriching faith in a Supreme power; and principles of truth, honesty, generosity, equity, and brotherhood as a guide to mundane relations" Luther Standing Bear (1868?-1939) Oglala Sioux Chief Well, it has taken me some time, but I’ve finally gotten up the nerve to talk "About Me". LOL! in order to complete this section of my Facebook Page. I will begin with an Indian Prayer which says “Great Spirit, help me never to judge another until I have walked two moons (months) in his moccasins.” of which we have a beautiful framed cross-stitch plaque given to us by a friend displayed in our home. And then by saying that God has a way of deciding for us. You begin on one path and may travel many before you find yourself in a place that you never expected, never foresaw in the beginning. I began my journey on a seriously focused career path, you know the path where you establish the career and become successful by striving and reaching corporate goals in order to attain success in the other areas of life by obtaining the material things that you desire because this is how success is measured. You are in control and moving forward at a pace which is acceptable to you for "your planned future". Then it happens, that first thing that changes your path and then another and another until you find yourself on a completely different path, the one that you never saw coming, but becomes equally satisfying. In my life, I began as a career banker anticipating the same for the next 35 years in all my materialistic glory, not saying that bankers are materialistic. I'm speaking of myself. It's cliché, but "been there, done tha...Expand for more
t, got the t-shirt”, lost the t-shirt off my back, then through several metamorphoses, a different path, a new quest, emerged, one that measures success in an entirely different manner through spiritual, intellectual, moral, philosophical and cultural values. In some respects, I have become "My Mama", which though I would never have planned it for myself, is a good thing. My Mama was a sweet, strong, resilient, conservative, intelligent, beautiful, kind, loving, selfless, wonderful, happy, content, devoted Mother and homemaker who enjoyed cooking, crocheting, gardening, crafting, puzzles, shopping for "bargain basement sales", country music, her favorite t.v. shows, reading romance novels, yard sales, vacations, playing Solitaire with an actual deck of cards, also Rummy, visiting family and friends, church and taking care of and loving her Husband (My Daddy), children and grandchildren. She endured many hardships in her life with the last one being that with bravery and dignity she passed away after having suffered and losing a long battle, which to us seemed like a very short time, but long in terms of suffering, with lung cancer. Her concern at the end was that she didn't want to leave us, her family. At this point in my life, if I can be half the woman that she was, I will have been a successful person who contributed something to this world. Many of my interests and activities differ from my Mama's, I only wish that I could do well some of the things my Mama enjoyed doing, but my interests lie elsewhere. However, my interests are as important to me as my Mama’s were to her. Though I don't have children, I have placed my energies, love and dedication into other endeavors. When I decided to follow "The Red Road" of my American Indian culture and heritage, my materialistic views changed. At great risk of being judged and/or separated from main stream society, I decided to get off the consumer-oriented "rollercoaster" which controls us or maybe it was decided for me and I decided to stay off of it. "Material things" are not what is important in life. The more you have, the more you want, never having enough, constantly consuming and striving to consume more. We live in a throw-away society where "things" aren't repaired or reused. They are thrown away and new "things" purchased to replace them. Excessive wastefulness results in over-consumption and over-consumption results in excessive wastefulness. It's a vicious unending cycle. My quest, "The Red Road", hopefully God's plan for my life, has brought me to living conservatively and taking advantage of our "throw-away" society by graciously accepting, "reclaiming", gifts of many "treasures" that others no longer want or need because they are tired of them, had them too long, they are out of "style" or in need of some repair, that might otherwise become "trash", whether it be home furnishings, clothing or building materials, or by just buying secondhand, and enjoying the simple blessings in life such as good health, enough to eat, the beauty around us, the air we breathe, and family and friends, the things that are often taken for granted, procuring what you need rather than all that you want, thinking in terms of necessity rather than indulging in excess, being kind and helpful to other people, animals, those less fortunate and those who cannot help themselves, treating others well as you wish to be treated without judgment, and remembering to thank God, The Great Spirit, our Creator and our Sustainer for everything. In my humble opinion, these are the important things in life, the meaning of life and living well. I have chosen a simple, conservative, uncomplicated and drama-free life with minimal stress on "The Red Road" which works well for me and my Husband who is a very hard-working man. I am by no means the perfect conservationist or minimalist, and definitely have my weaknesses as well. For example, I've always enjoyed collecting which is a huge temptation for excess as opposed to minimalism, but now rather than buying things, I "scavenge” for them which adds a challenge. Now, because I have spent quite a bit of time reflecting inwardly and expressing it outwardly on this page in order to tell you "About Me", please do not mistake my conscientiousness in this task of expression as my being egocentric or narcissistic because it is not intended as such. “Tried to get rid of that streak of vanity a long time ago.” LOL On a lighter note, my indulgence . . . I STILL LOVE CHOCOLATE!!! Love, light and blessings to all from TsiSQuoQuo/Robin *Remember to RECYCLE!* P.S. I've decided Facebook is "free therapy" LOL! These words "Shared" from a Friend's Post on the FB Newsfeed seem to summarize well what I have said "About Me" here: To laugh often and much; The affection of children; To endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better; To know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."".
