Robin's Story
Hello fellow classmates! I was never the popular, pretty or outgoing girl at school. I was bone thin & gawky. After graduation (which occurred for me in February of '77) I went straight to work. I worked at Sage Department Store for 3 months & then worked the night shift at the State Comptroller's office. At age 17, I was hired to work full-time & spent the next 31 years there. I retired in June of 2008. Fellow classmates, Janet Morris, David Cravatt & Tommy Nobles work there too.
After I retired, I moved to Kyle, where I now live in a town-home with my 2 cats. I moved there to be near my mother, who lives in Buda. My step-father died of Pancreatic Cancer in August of 2008. I spent every day at Christopher House (hospice) supporting my mother. It was a terrible time for her & our families. I was right where I need...Expand for more
ed to be & would not change a thing.
Living on an annuity is rough sometimes, but I am happy that I can now spend quality time with my grandmother, mom, siblings & friends. Life is good! I am young enough to continue to work if I wanted to make life easier. I don't see that happening any time soon!
Now that I have lots of time, I love to cook, garden & hang out with my friends and family. I also love to go sailing & ride motorcycles (as a passenger). I am now learning the art of Tie Dye. I decided to learn because it is so expensive to purchase. Now I know why!!! It is very tedious & takes a lot of time!
For you curious types, I never married or had kids. I am a heterosexual who would love to share my remaining time with a companion rather than alone. However, I am very happy by myself as well. Life is good!
