Robin's Story
Life
Life hasn't slowed down since '72. I relocated to CA. during college and decided to stay. Happily married 21 years, 4 kids [2 easy,2 tough--the latter two keep us humble about our parenting abilities]been working with the Sacramento DA's office for 21 years. Specialized in child homicides for quite a while. Am taking it easy now, doing PR and office talkinghead. Have worked part-time for past 14 years. It's nice to be able to do it. My husband is a high school teacher at our local Jesuit High School. Always reminds me of Jesuit in Houston and my first boyfriend there [who my daughters ask about. Daughters are fascinated by dating history.] We're Christians and try to 'walk the walk' but are painfully aware of how far we fall short. So, we keep on pushing forward & try to keep things in perspective. Had a cancer scare and that'll do it for you, in addition to kids' health issues ...Expand for more
and all the other things most of us are facing at 'midlife.' E-gads, it' scarey to think we're halfway to 90. I still feel 17. Would love to hear from old classmates. I still keep in touch w/ Ellen Buck & Adrienne Fox. [new names, of course, but I'll let them reveal those.]
I remain to all of those who knew me then and now, ROB
2008 UPDATE [6.24.08]
Bad year. Lost our second child at age 20. She was stargazing on a bridge and struck by a vehicle. She was Kelsey Burke. Mark Twain lost a daughter at age 24 and said it best, ""The intellect is stunned by the shock and but gropingly gathers the meaning of the words.... The power to realize their full import
is mercifully still wanting. The mind has a dim sense of vast loss -- that is all. It will take mind and memory months and possibly years to gather
the details and thus learn the whole extent of the loss." Grief overshadows all.
