Robin's Story
Greetings to former classmates.
Post high school graduation I stayed in the area and lived in Berkley for a couple of years. My roommate was Carol Brecher but saw a few classmates occasionally. I worked for a pediatrician in Orinda and then in Dermatology before returning to DVC for my AA. From there I attended Yuba City, briefly, and then onto Sonoma State University where I acquired my BA in Liberal Studies, with an emphasis on Sociology and Education. I married in June 1974 and after graduation from Sonoma State in December of that year I moved to Minnesota where I have lived ever since. Moving here in January was a shock to my California sun system. I think I shivered the whole winter. I have an accomplished and very bright daughter, Amanda, who will be 36 on 4-8. Hard to believe it!
I have worked for the State of Minnesota in the Department of Econ Security during a time in the late 70s when unemployment was really high and the Benefits Extension programs were first introduced. After several years I then started to work with children and using my degree of Early Child Development with preschoolers and then a home business doing day care and socialization groups for toddlers. ut stay involved with subbing at the school at which I last worked.
I have done 2 mission trips to Costa Rica, 4 to Panama, 2 to Native American Reservations and 1 with teens to Appalachia. I traveled to China in 2000 with 30 friends and coworkers and then went solo to England, Germany and Austria, later in the year. It was a fabulous trip with the highlight meeting up with my daughter and 2 of her friends with whom she was backpacking for a month, in Munich.
I enjoy sports, music (I sing in my church choir as one in the naughty Also section!), listening to an eclectic range of music, reading historical novels or mystery books. I live peacefully with my cat Scout and have a great circle of friends with whom I spend a lot of time.
The only times I have seen former 1968 PHHS friends was in 1982 when several of us gathers at Joann Malta's home and then at the 30th class reunion.
I think of those high school years and may be one of only a few who actually liked them. I wonder what and how people are doing so if any one is inclined to let me know that would be great. I liked lunch time where many sat in the Rally bowl or congregated in the square. I can picture the different groups hanging out together laughing and having a good time. Then it was back to class.
Well, I hope I hear from some of you and wish you all well.
