Robina's Story
I moved to Seattle, WA in 1997. Love it here! the scenery is so beautiful all year round. I go hiking, camping, bikeriding, just about anything outdoors. The only thing I miss about Salt Lake City, is the people. The people of Seattle value different things than Utahns. Family is not important, most people have dogs instead of children. Money seems to be the most important thing here. You need a resume to date. We have the most singles over the age of 40, but no one dates or socializes. The newspapers called it the Seattle Freeze.
It does rain here alot, but what they don't tell you is that it is dry all summer, and only snows in the mountains. (usually). The air smells like evergreen and ocean. it is the thing my son misses most since moving back to SLC. I miss him most. He is married owns his own home and is starting a family. s his job, and I fear he will never move back here. But, I just want him to be happy.
My daughter lives here with my 3 grandsons. She is engaged to the most wonderful man I have ever known. I think she finally got it right. The boys love him, and he has made a big difference in their lives. Boys especially need a good man to look up to.
I have found a wonderful website for making friends called Meet up.com. Which I highly recomend. There are groups for everything from book clubs to support groups to skydivers. The first ten years I lived here I found it difficult to make friends, now I have over 30 phone # 's in my cell phone. All great people to go places with. But I keep threatening to move back to SLC long enough to find a kind affectionate man, and bring him back with me. I haven't found one here yet.
Oh well you can't have everything.
