Ken's Story
Life
I am currently the webmaster for our 50th Reunion to be held on Columbus Day weekend. Please see our web site, trhsclassof69.com for more details.
Working for Rutgers University as a Drupal Developer. I am now working for my Alma Mater!
Workplace
I knew I wanted to work with computers before I got to high school (about 1963!) when my father took a computer assembler course and brought home a flow chart template!
I started my first real job in programming in 1973. In 1980 I discovered OpenVMS (or as it was known then VAX/VMS) -- one of the best, most secure operating systems around, and one the most people never heard of. :-(
That was the year I got started in the world of System Management. I have been an OpenVMS System Manager ever since (except for a brief stint as a developer in the late 1980's/early 1990's).
In 1995 I was laid off from Lehman Brothers and the first job that came up was a consulting position. I discovered I liked being a consultant and continue to be one. Although in these tough times, I'm only working 2 days/week.
I've worked at many companies throughout my career, sometimes as a full time employee, sometimes as a consultant/contract employee. I have discovered that I would rather be a consultant than a full time employee.
I discovered the WEB when it came out in late 1991/early 1992. I started writing my own web sites in about ...Expand for more
1993/1994 and started making some money from web design in the last few years.

Home Life
I was married for 26 years before my wife passed away at the end of July, 2005 after a very long battle with cancer. She had a rare form of a rare form of cancer -- Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, and was diagnosed in September, 1981.
We didn't have any children.
In December, 2011 I met Edie Tolchin via Chemistry.com. I'm now engaged to her and will we are planning our wedding in November, 2014.
Update: Edie & I were married on November 2, 2014 (this also is her birthday, so I only have to remember 1 date :) )
Social Life
My main social activity is Modern Western Square Dancing, which I have been doing for almost 30 years. I started dancing because my wife was dancing when I met her and found I really enjoyed it. In the last 10 - 15 years I've become more involved in the leadership aspects of the activity -- President and webmaster of a local club in North Brunswick, NJ -- The Rutgers Promenaders, webmaster for the Northern NJ Square Dancers Association. I've been a member of a number of national Square Dancing organizations.
Hobbies
Besides Square Dancing, my other hobbies include cooking & baking (I make killer brownies), digital photography, wine (drinking & tasting), web design, and meteorology.
