Robyn's Story
I never thought I would be taking the time to do something like this, but this website kept showing up. I was curious to see what classmates.com was all about.
I graduated from Miami University (in Oxford) with a degree in special education. I got married in June of 1980, and will be celebrating a 30th wedding anniversary in June. I met my husband at Miami. He is a graduate of Miami also. I am now in my 28th year of teaching. I got my masters degree at Robert's Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY where we currently live. We have lived (in Order)-St.Louis, MO., Lexington, KY., Illinois, Richmond, VA, Youngstown, OH, Kansas (yes, Kansas!!), and Rochester, NY. Why all the moving? For the most part it has to do with my hubby's education. He has a masters and Ph.D. Right now he is a professor and head of the Religion and Humanities Department at Roberts Wesleyan. We have 2 children. Our son Lance is a senior at Robert's majoring in Physical Education and coaching. He is 23. Before his 8 arm surgeries, he was projected as a first round draft choice in MLB. As a 15 year old, Baseball America rated him as the top 15 year old pitcher in the country, throwing in the low 90's. An agent had even contacted...Expand for more
him, as well as, all the major baseball colleges and several pro teams. He knows many of the major leaguers playing today because he played with them on showcase and all-star teams throughout the country. One of his big moments was getting Justin Upton to go 0 for 3 against him. He had Tommy John surgery, but then had several labrum tears and other injuries. Our daughter Lauren is 19 and pursuing a nursing career. She was a fast pitch pitcher in high school, and had several offers to play in college, but did not want to devote so much to a sport. Her big moment was when Justin Upton's older brother B.J. Upton tried to get her to give him her phone number!!! She is a very attractive blue eyed blonde so she gets a lot of that. Oh, brother.
It's amazing how fast the years have gone by. I honestly don't remember many things from highschool, but I do remember a lot of college stuff. I guess when I went to Miami, I essentially never lived in West Milton after that. In fact, the last time I was there was in 1983. That was when my parents sold their place and moved an hour south of Columbus.
As I see the names of classmates, memories are starting to return. I guess it is kind of fun.
