Juan's Story
Life
Ever since leaving El Paso in 1973, I moved to Chicago and been living there ever since. I am a maintenance mechanic and worked at a confectionery firm (Brach's) for over 30 years until the company shut down and moved its plant to Chattanooga, Tennesse, Mexico, and Argentina. I found myself unemployed for the first time in my life at the age of 55!. There I was in "no man's land" too young to qualify for a full pension and too old to start all over again. g there for the past seven years.
I am a widower having lost my wife of 37 years on November 16, 2012.
My best memories I spent, at Ysleta high school, was being a member of the band and all the first division awards we received between 1968 and 1969 under the direction of the legendary John Faraone.
I retired from the Navy reserve in 2009 having served 27 years.
I finally retired on January, 2016 after working for some 45 years. I plan to move back to El Paso after a long stay in the Chicago area (since 1970).
I would like to hear from any fellow Indians (or Jeff Foxes) especially from my 1969 class but I will welcome anyone that remembers me or anybody else that would like to chat with me. I promise to return your calls promptly.
