Rod's Story
Worked as a cabinet maker and exhibit builder two years out of high school (1982-1984). Went to San Jose State University to study cultural anthropology and linguistics (1984). Studied abroad in north India at a Gandhian University (1985), then went to the Southern Philippines to do ethnographic research on Muslim shamanism (1986). Returned to Gujarat, India to do my honors thesis on Shi'ite mourning rituals (1987), then published this research as, "The Ordeal of Moharram", Natural History Magazine (9/90). Married my lovely bride Michelle (1988). Graduated SJSU (1990). Attended theological seminary (1990-91). Moved to India to study Urdu language at Delhi University and Jamia Millia Islamia (1993-1995) in preparation for doctoral studies. cans build a better world with various NGOs (i.e., charities). Worked jointly with Muslim scholars and research institutes to publish interfaith Urdu texts to promote peace. Began lecturing internationally on Muslim-Christian dialog in North and South America, South Asia and former Soviet Republic. Became the proud father of my son Noah (2000) and daughter Annah Liyah (2004). Moved to Egypt to study Arabic and research the role of Muslim cinematography in teaching Islamic knowledge (2004-2006). Presented paper in Washington, DC at the 2nd Annual Conference on Muslim Peace, Justice and Interfaith Dialogue, "New Paths in Interfaith Dialog: Understanding Islam from the Light of Earliest Jewish Christianity". Rejoiced at the birth of my son Abram (2007). Founded Abrahamic Alliance International to unite Jews, Christians and Muslims for active peacebuilding and relief of extreme poverty (2008).
